I wanted to pick a simple image for my woodcut. I have been taking photos of a doll that I have and ultimately it ends up headless. Again, I keep the theme of daisies here.
Here are some of my prints.
Printed on to some handmade paper.
I then printed on to some childlike tissue paper.
I got some images from movies which were made regarding child abuse. The next print has an image from the movie 'Mommie Dearest' staring Faye Dunaway. Unfortunately the chine colle (technique of incorporating other paper elements to a print) didn't work out with this image. The paper I printed the movie image on to was not absorbent at all and couldn't soak up the ink so you couldn't see the image.
Here is a couple of links to clips of the movie. It's quite hard going, so be warned:
The particular image I used was from the Wire Hangers scene: No Wire Hangers Scene
I came across some daisy cut out paper and used is to print on to. The love the ghost prints.
I also used an image from the embroidery I did earlier and used chine colle. Again, the image wasn't clear due to the paper from the printer.
Here I used an article from the newspaper for chine colle. It worked better due to the absorbency of the paper. I want to work more in this this as I don't want the text to take away from the image.
This is my one of my favourites. I'm working on compiling a book type collection of child like activities, and colouring is a big part of what children like to do. So, I coloured in one of my prints and really loved doing it. I felt like a child again!!
Here are some of the other types of tissue paper that I printed on to.
This is the reverse of the tissue paper and love the way the ink has soaked in to it. It gives it a ghostly feel.
I am going to display them by hanging them one in front of the other - starting with white, blue, pink, red and then finally black. The layering process is to show that for victims of violence, there are many layers which are affected and hidden. The very last print at the back will be of my headless embossed dolls - see at a later post.
I also cut back in to some of the prints. Here is an example of how one turned out:
